Marketplace Rules
Last updated 6 September 2026
Effective Date: September 6, 2026 Platform: Solar Marketplace
These Marketplace Rules govern how customers, installers, suppliers, and other participants must behave when using Solar Marketplace.
They work together with the Terms & Conditions, Privacy Policy, and Provider Verification Requirements.
1. General Conduct
All users must act honestly, professionally, and in good faith.
Users must not:
- provide false or misleading information; - impersonate another person or company; - manipulate quotations, reviews, ratings, project status, or provider selection; - misuse another user's personal or business information; - harass, threaten, or abuse other users; - use the platform for unlawful activity; - attempt to bypass platform security or access restrictions.
2. Customer Responsibilities
Customers must provide accurate project and contact information.
Customers should not knowingly submit:
- false electricity usage data; - misleading property information; - duplicate requests intended to manipulate provider activity; - fraudulent or non-genuine projects.
Customers are responsible for reviewing quotations carefully before selecting a provider.
3. Installer Responsibilities
Installers must:
- provide accurate business and qualification information; - maintain required licences, registrations, certifications, or insurance where applicable; - quote only for work they are reasonably capable of performing; - disclose important exclusions and conditions; - avoid misleading claims about products, performance, warranties, or savings; - keep company and service-area information current; - comply with applicable safety, electrical, building, and professional requirements.
4. Supplier Responsibilities
Suppliers must:
- provide accurate company and product information; - quote accurately for equipment and materials; - disclose product availability, lead times, warranties, and exclusions where relevant; - avoid misrepresenting manufacturer authorization or product specifications; - keep service, delivery, payment, and contact information current.
5. Project Access and Marketplace Participation
Providers may only access project information through the platform mechanisms made available to their account and role.
Providers must not attempt to access:
- projects not assigned or visible to them; - private customer information before authorization; - another provider's confidential quotation data; - restricted administrative information.
Installer and supplier access must remain role-specific where the platform separates those functions.
6. Quotations
Quotations must be genuine, complete, and submitted by an authorized provider.
Providers must not:
- submit intentionally misleading prices; - conceal mandatory charges in order to appear cheaper; - submit false equipment specifications; - impersonate another provider; - manipulate quotation deadlines; - alter accepted quotation history improperly.
Where the platform provides structured quotation fields, providers should use them accurately.
7. Quotation Deadlines
Providers must comply with platform quotation deadlines.
The platform may prevent submission after the applicable deadline.
Providers should not attempt to bypass, manipulate, or interfere with quotation timing controls.
8. Accepted Quotations
Once a quotation has been accepted:
- the accepted record may become read-only; - relevant documents may be retained; - competing quotations may change status; - the selected provider relationship may become authoritative for that project.
Users must not attempt to delete or alter accepted transaction records improperly.
9. Provider Selection
Customers are free to compare eligible quotations and select the provider they prefer.
Providers must not:
- pressure customers to manipulate platform records; - falsely claim they have been selected; - interfere with another provider's accepted project; - attempt to redirect a project improperly after award.
10. Off-Platform Contact
Where Solar Marketplace makes contact information available, it must be used only for legitimate project-related purposes.
Users must not use obtained contact information for:
- spam; - unrelated advertising; - resale; - harassment; - unauthorized data collection.
11. Reviews and Ratings
Reviews must reflect genuine completed-project experiences.
Users must not:
- post fake reviews; - review their own company; - create accounts to manipulate ratings; - offer improper incentives for misleading positive reviews; - threaten users over review scores; - submit abusive or defamatory content unrelated to the actual service experience.
Solar Marketplace may remove or restrict reviews that violate these rules.
12. Provider Verification
Verification status must not be misrepresented.
A provider must not claim to be:
- verified; - licensed; - certified; - insured; - manufacturer-authorized;
unless that claim is accurate and supported where required.
A Solar Marketplace verification badge does not guarantee future performance or workmanship.
13. Project Progress
Project status and progress must reflect genuine project activity.
Users must not intentionally falsify:
- start dates; - installation progress; - completion status; - provider assignment; - project milestones.
14. Cancellations and Project Changes
Where cancellation or project changes are permitted, users should make them through the supported platform workflow.
Accepted, completed, or audited records may remain preserved even where a project is later cancelled or hidden from normal views.
15. Prohibited Marketplace Manipulation
The following are prohibited:
- bid rigging; - coordinated false quotations; - price manipulation; - fake provider accounts; - fake customer requests; - review manipulation; - unauthorized access to competitors' quotations; - exploiting platform bugs to gain unfair marketplace access.
16. Technical Abuse
Users must not:
- probe or attack platform infrastructure; - attempt to defeat authentication or RLS controls; - inject malicious code; - scrape restricted data; - interfere with service availability; - exploit software vulnerabilities for unauthorized access.
Security issues should be reported through the official platform contact channel.
17. Enforcement
Solar Marketplace may investigate suspected violations and may:
- issue warnings; - request additional verification; - restrict marketplace access; - suspend quotation privileges; - hide or remove prohibited content; - suspend accounts; - terminate accounts; - preserve relevant records for security, audit, or dispute purposes.
Enforcement may depend on the seriousness, frequency, and evidence of the violation.
18. Appeals or Clarification
Where appropriate, a user may contact Solar Marketplace to request clarification or review of an enforcement decision.
Solar Marketplace may require supporting documentation before restoring access.
19. Changes to Marketplace Rules
These rules may be updated as platform features, laws, security requirements, and marketplace processes change.
The effective date should be updated whenever a new version is published.
